Bali is above everything else a fantastic place. A hinduistic open-hearted friend, that takes you in with flesh and bone - even if it's the very first time you meet. Warm, tropical sun (that will lobster-fy any Scandinavian), deep forests, powerful rivers, volcanos, temples, art and a population with it's very own - and very strong - characteristics.

When the Majapahit Empire fell in 1520 the hindues established themselves on Bali, with their own culture, economy and national identity. This still lives on what makes Bali a standout in the otherwise muslim Indonesia.

Go to Bali for the sights, the smells, the tastes, and be challenged by the garbage in the streets, grow an eye in the back of your head to keep from being run down by a scooter, learn how religion and devotion can effect everything around it - also you. My bet is, that you will return home with at least a 'mala' and presumably also a Sarong.
